José van Tubergen was born 1946 in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. She studied graphic design at the IVKNO (now Gerrit Rietveld Academy) Amsterdam, juwelry, printmaking and painting at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy Amsterdam and at the Royal Academy in ‘s Hertogenbosch she studied making sculptures on buildings and in landscapes. Since 1980 she works as autonomic multidisciplinair artist in Amsterdam and also worked in Berlin for over 25 years. Van Tubergen is a member of the KCB (Kunstenaars Centrum Bergen) Grafiekgroep Bergen and Arti & Amicitae Amsterdam. She forms with 4  artists the artistscollectiv  Het Transparante Huis. They make installation art on special locations.

Her work has been shown in national and international solo and group exhibitions and are in many public and private collections, including the Museum of modern Art in Douro, Portugal

She has developed a unique printing technique, often large scale and on canvas.
